For two weeks I had the privilege of taking a Church Planting workshop. It was a two week, intense course. There was a group of about 26 people. Many with hearts to go and reach Taiwanese, Indonesians, Chinese, Tibetans, and Vietnamese peoples.
The heart of the course was to see what the scriptures had to show about Church Planting, define what "church" is according to the bible and see how that can be reproduced by the indigenous people in a nation. We saw a very simple yet powerful model for church in the new testament.
Every student worked on what we called an "end vision" this is what we hoped to see happen in our countries or people groups. They had to be big, God sized. Then we would go over practical ways on how to make our end vision happen.
The speaker says if we don't know what we are aiming for how do we know where we are going. So the end vision shows us what we are aiming for and gives us motivation and clear direction in what we need to get done.
It was repeated over and over its not about what we can do but what needs to get done.
It was very challenging and inspiring as we studied over many cases of different church planters and to see their successes and also areas of failure. Amazing to see that in 12 years some church plants saw half a million people baptized and those were in nations with persecution.
We are very excited now about what the Lord wants to do here in Taiwan. The Lord has also been speaking to much of the leadership and other missionaries here about this area and so we feel the Lord is really doing something here.
Here is our "End Vision" for the Chon Family:
Our vision is to see multiple streams of reproducing Taiwanese churches. Wholeheartedly engaged in prayer, worship, fellowship and obedience to all of Jesus' commands. Walking in spiritual gifts and stirring one another in faith and using surfing as a gateway to take the gospel into the 5 eastern counties of Taiwan starting from Jinshan Township Taipei county.
We have decided if the Lord has us here the rest of our lives to see this happen than we are willing.
We are humbled by this vision that the Lord would call us to something so big. It brings us to fully depend on him because we are so small but God is so much bigger.
Please continue to pray for us as we have a giant task in front of us.
Blessings
Sorry I would post some pictures but many of the missionaries and speaker live in very sensitive areas and it could endanger them to post pictures of them.
