In the past month, our family and a small group of fellow missionaries have been meeting in our house weekly for church. The focus of our group is to be a community committed to each other and committed to observe Gods greatest command which is to love God, love each other and love those who don't know God. The great commission.
Our church model is very simple, which is on purpose. This is so that it can be easily multiplied through anyone.
We go through four questions each time we meet.
#1. What are we thankful for? ( this is our worship/we may sing as well)
#2. What is our greatest need?
#3. How can we meet that need? ( we can pray for each other, or give to the need, anything we can do to help.)
#4. Last we go through scripture, with short teaching, then discuss and ask what the scripture says about God. Then ask what the scriptures says about man. And then ask how we can be obedient to the scripture.
Although it is so simple, it has been very life giving for all of us who attend. We feel we are able to go deeper with God, deeper with each other and have a greater heart to reach the lost. Isn't this what the church is supposed to be? We have been really blessed to be a part of this because we have made great new friends, as well as, we feel very empowered and excited to multiply this at the beach.
Lets not just go to church, but be the church.
