Surf Contest!

We just recently hosted the first CS Taiwan surf contest!
This was an idea that Eliah and I had gotten in prayer about three months ago and Nov. was the date we both got in prayer for when.  We were nervous when preparing because we had never done anything like this before. We weren't sure if people would show up or if the weather was going to be good or even there would be waves. But the Lord was very faithful to us and we had 51 surfers sign up. The day of the contest the weather finally broke after about three weeks of strong northeast winds and unsurfable conditions at our beach. We had a little rain but no wind and waist to shoulder high surf the whole day.
It really was a blessing.

A few other YWAMers came to help, and many other surfers pitched in setting things up. I was a judge along with three other Taiwanese guys. Before the start of the contest I was able to share about who we are and what we were doing in Taiwan.
We had a ton of fun just cheering our friends on in each round. Serving hot drinks and hanging out.
At the end of the contest we had a BBQ in one of the surfshops. I was able to share a short message of the God of the waves before we did our prize ceremony.

It was a very successful day! Praise God.
There were many more conversations with other surfers and YWAMers. One guy that owns a surfshop was in tears when my friend was sharing the gospel to him.  He wants to believe in God but still is struggling with the thought of stopping the worship of his ancestors. Its something that every Taiwanese person faces when making a decision to follow Christ. But his heart is very open.

There are some guys that we want to do follow up with. We want to ask them if they are interested in reading the bible together and teach them what it means to follow Jesus. If you could please pray that these guys are willing to take that step. We are very excited for what is happening.

Here are a few pics of the time.
Thank you so much for all your prayers for us we really felt them  and also your support and encouragement to us. You really are a part of the work that God is doing here.
Thank you again.
